Thanks for your interest in Penumbra. As we mentioned, we're in pre-launch testing and not processing payments yet.

Your card was not charged. We do see that you completed the flow — that's the signal we needed to know there's demand for Penumbra.

What this is

Penumbra is currently in pre-launch testing. We're not yet selling the product. Before we build it, we want to know who's interested and at what price.

To find that out, we've set up a pre-launch checkout-style flow to measure purchase intent. You can choose a plan, enter your card details, and click "Subscribe." But no real payment will be processed. Every transaction is intentionally declined.

How it works

You enter your card details on the checkout page.

The card details are sent directly to Stripe, our payment processor. We never see your full card number — only metadata like the last 4 digits, card brand, and decline status.

Stripe attempts the transaction, then declines it on our instructions.

You see a "transaction declined" message. No charge is made to your card.

We record that you completed the flow — which tells us you're interested in the product at the price we showed you. That's all. No money moves. No card information is stored on our servers.

Why we do this

This method — sometimes called a smoke test — is how careful product teams test demand before building. It saves us from building something nobody wants, and saves you from being one of millions of beta users for an unfinished product.

If you completed the checkout flow, you're telling us Penumbra sounds valuable enough to try. We'll use that signal to decide whether and how to build it. If we move forward, you'll hear from us first.

What about my data?

We collect: the email and first name you entered earlier; metadata of the checkout attempt (which plan, which page, which time, decline reason); standard analytics data.

We do not collect or store: your full credit or debit card number; your card's CVV or PIN; your billing address.

What if I see a charge?

You shouldn't. Every transaction is declined before settlement.

If your bank or card statement shows a charge from us or from Stripe related to Penumbra, contact legal@smart-it.io immediately. We'll investigate and ensure any unintended charge is reversed.

When does this change?

When Penumbra actually launches as a real product, this checkout will become a normal subscription flow with real charges, refund policies, and standard payment terms. You'll see clear notices when that happens. Until then — no charges.
